Calling all artists! Share your creativity and help brighten our Festival for the 2023 Season!

Our annual Mural Competition has begun and we’re looking for creative painters to paint a beautiful mural that captures the spirit of the Minnesota Renaissance Festival! Your murals can include but are not limited to jousting, juggling, mermaids, fairies, dragons, unicorns, witches, wizards, your favorite acts from the Renaissance, and more! Designs must be original and painted by the person submitting the form.

Contest is FREE to enter.

All murals must be 2′ x 2′ and painted with an outdoor paint or finished with a waterproof cover. They must be painted on a weather-treated material (i.e. treated plywood). The murals will be put on display at the Minnesota Renaissance Festival and will be exposed to the elements during the duration of our 2023 season. Please write your name on the back bottom right corner of the mural.

Each submitted mural competitor will receive one free admission ticket, only valid weekends 1-4 & Festival Friday.

Murals dropped off after 8-17-23, will not be accepted!
If Murals aren’t registered they won’t be accepted

Murals will become the property of the Minnesota Renaissance Festival once dropped off.

Voting will be open up until the end of weekend 4. Patrons will vote for their favorite mural. The top 3 murals will be awarded a prize!


The faeries of the Minnesota Renaissance Festival are in search of a new home!

Everyone in the King’s land is invited to participate in the Fairy House Competition as entry is free. Get inspired by the environment and create with earthly materials! Make a fairy garden or use a fun planting pot as the base for easy transportation. Decorate your house inside and out!

Contest is FREE to enter.

All fairy houses must be a minimum size of 12″ wide by 12″ long and a maximum size of 16″ wide by 16″ long. Fairy houses should be durable to weather elements as they will be displayed in the Special Events Field. Make sure your fairy house has a strong sturdy base and is light enough to carry for easy transportation. Fairy houses must have first/last name attached and must match the name on the entry form.

Each submitted Fairy House competitor will receive one free admission ticket, only valid weekends 1 – 4 + Festival Friday. See the application form for more rules and tips.

Forms are recommended to be completed before the Once Upon A Time weekend for a more efficient set up for the competition.

DROP OFF LOCATIONS:

Once completed, you may drop off your fairy house at the B-Gate (to the right of King’s Gate).

You may pick up your Fairy House at the Special Events Field between 5 – 7 PM (must show your Google Form submission with name to prove it is yours).

In a battle of cupcake vs. cupcake there will be fallen flavors, frosting splatter, and confection carnage. For those with an appetite for destruction, demonstrate your baking skills during Cupcake Royale! Taking place once per day during Wine, Chocolate, & Romance weekend (Sept 2-4), pre-make your cakes and bring them to the festival for judging from professional bakers from A Bakery Girl and Amy’s Cupcake Shoppe. Register today & see who takes the cake!

Pre-registration is required! Only 10 Cupcake entries will be accepted per day, Limit of one (1) entry per person.

Contest is FREE to enter.

Participants must submit four (4) cupcakes to be judged (3 for the judges and 1 for presentation). Cupcakes must be dropped off in some form of container and have first/last name attached. Cupcakes will be judged on presentation, taste, and Renaissance theme. Cupcakes will be stored in a cooler before the competition but exposed to the elements during the competition. Cupcakes will not be returned after the competition.

Participants can only enter into ONE judging for the weekend.

Cupcakes must be dropped off by 10am the day the participant has registered to participate in.
